I have worked in the health care system for more than 25 years. I am a Nurse Practitioner with a Masters degree in Adult health. I’ve gained experience in many areas of health care including Cardiology, Obstetrics, medicine, surgery and home care. I have worked in hospitals, outpatient offices and visited patients in their own home, which gave me a broad view of what happens to us when we become ill. I have seen people deal with very difficult illnesses throughout the years and what I have learned is whenever our physical health is compromised it almost always affects our Mental Health.
This propelled me to look further for answers; I went back to school at Hunter College and obtained another Masters and Nurse Practitioner in Psych Mental Health. I realized that when our Mental Health is affected it can make it difficult to care for ourselves physically. It also reinforced for me the connection between mind and body. When we address issues that affect our Mental Health it increases our capacity to care for our total being. Lifestyle choices and changes can optimize our body’s response and result in physiological changes leading to better health.
It is sincerely important to understand what my patients are going through, to know the situation that has lead them to my care in order to treat them effectively. This is why I designed my practice to incorporate care that consists of Therapy and Medication management. Getting to know you, and working with you towards a resolution to optimum health is my goal.
